Google’s Super Headquarters in Central Saint Giles, Covent Garden, was a PENSON project that really helped to put us on the map. When you’ve worked with a global giant such as Google people can’t help but be impressed, especially when you produce something as fantastic as we did – even if we say so ourselves. However, the project also ended up winning us Mixology Magazine’s Large Commercial Interiors Project of the Year award in 2012, so I guess it isn’t just us saying it.

With this project we transformed 160,000 square foot over five floors into a typically British environment, complete with giant glittering Union Jacks on the walls, mini secret gardens on the rooftop, a 200 seat event room named the “Town Hall”, a granny flat, and allotments where Googlers can get back to their roots and grow their own vegetables.

As well as making the project appealing to the eye with fun private workspaces and a huge selection of quirky furnishings, we also made it appealing to the environment. We removed as many harmful ingredients as possible from our building and decorating materials, used water-based products wherever possible and used a huge amount of reclaimed and recycled materials.

The project was heavily featured in the press including Stylist magazine, Mix Interiors and Dezeen, and won us the afore mentioned Mixology award. We also happened to win Design Practice of the Year at those same awards. Coincidence? We think not.

We’re incredibly proud of all of the projects that we create here at PENSON, and although this Google project may have been the first time some of you had heard of us, it certainly won’t be the last.
