This striking family home was designed by German-based architecture firm, Kitzlingerhaus. Their family has four generations of experience of building natural healthy wooden houses under their belt. They hone this to deliver their clients honest craft, routine procedures, and sophisticated architecture.
The design of this 198 square meter family home sought to integrate a modern building into a natural landscape in a thoughtful and interesting way. Let's take a look…
The exterior is modern and boxy. A flat roof favours a cubic geometry, glass is prolific and the aesthetic is refined. A deep recess makes space for a covered patio area and the decking extends right around the house.
Without any changes in level, a seamless transition is created between inside and out, and between the deck and the garden.
The windows on the street facade feature state of the art corner glazing that offers panoramic views. Another very innovative solution was building the garage into a basement level so not to waste any valuable space.
The social heart of the home is located on the ground floor, where the kitchen, dining, and living areas comprise an open plan space for the whole family to gather. Floor to ceiling windows allow ample light and nature into the living spaces.
The living room gathers around a central fireplace for cozy evenings in, and a television is nowhere to be found in this space, but in a separate TV room.
Minimalist kitchen chic at it's finest: the all-white cabinetry show no sign of decoration, or even handles for that matter. The design is rational and paired back.
The black bench top contrasts the bright white, and stainless steel fittings and fixtures add an industrial edge.
A wooden staircase with a sleek glass balustrade leads to the upper level. The flat roof skylight lends the stairwell plenty of natural light.
On the upper-level, there are three very spacious bedrooms with a private en-suite and dressing room in the master suite.
When it comes to technology, no wish is left ungranted: all of the shutters and blinds are controlled electrically, and there is even a central vacuum cleaning system.
And how about that boxed window and window seat?! It's not a bad shot to conclude this tour on. If you'd like to take a look at another great home, we have just the article for you: A modern minimalist home with cool style.
