Designing your house to the standards of the houses featured in magazines could seem like a task that demands excessive financial investment. But, what if we told you that it does not always have to be that way…

Our today's article is an award-winning 70 square metre apartment designed for a newly wed couple. Extracting maximum usable space from the limited carpet area, designing furniture that would allow for flexible space usage, and achieving larger storage spaces, have been the core concepts behind the overall layout of the apartment. The architects have preferred natural wood, earthy tones, and patches of exciting bold colors to create a lively warm ambiance for the entire house.

The living room

Although compact in size, this living room looks wonderfully spacious thanks to the earthy color scheme chosen by the architects. The decor of the house is designed to look simple yet elegant by means of clean straight lines and sleek wooden furniture. In order to illuminate the space, the architects have opted for the slightly unusual track lighting system which is not only efficient in lighting up the living room but also focusing on few interesting items within the space.

The corridor

The corridor acts as a connector between the living and bedroom. The entire living area as well the corridor benefits from the large amount of natural light that is brought in by the windows from the living as well as the study area. Since wood and glass dominate the setting, the presence of the potted plant provides the space with a fresh breath of energy, a factor which goes on to enhance the overall ambiance of the living room.

The dining space

To make the space interesting, the architects have experimented with some bold colors and clever wall textures. The dining table follows the same design language as other furniture in the house. However, the real show-stealers are the bright red dust pan and the yellow dining chair that adorn the dining space. Further, the lime finished brick wall also looks extremely artistic while the sleek spotlight beautifully accentuates the rugged wall texture.

The study room

The study room is separated by a cleverly fabricated wood and glass partition to offer a quiet office-like atmosphere. The worktable is basically a simple plank of wood supported on the central storage cabinet and corner stands. This way, the users are provided with a functional as well as a movable furniture element that can be easily relocated to create space for guests that would visit the house.

Pleasant workspace

The large window opening as well the dark tinted partition glass ensure that the workspace never falls short on natural light, this way the atmosphere is maintained cheerful during most of the working hours of the day. To add an element of excitement, the architects have painted the storage cabinet in bright red which wonderfully complements the teak finish of the work table and the off-white colored flooring.

The bedroom

The primary requirement of the client with regards to the bedroom was that it should allow in as much as natural light as possible. Keeping that in consideration, the architects have ensured that the windows are designed to be large enough to let in natural light. Further, the walls are painted in shades of white in order to reflect light and create an impression of larger than actual room size. Lastly, to make the space more interesting, the architects have experimented with bright shades of primary colors that give a nice youthful vibe to the bedroom.
