Everyone knows how a water leak in the kitchen or in the bathroom can be an inconvenience, since even the smallest leak can cause a great waste of water. Just to get an idea, one drop of water per second can lead to the waste of about 10,000 liters per year. But the good news is that repairing such common leaks is easy, quick and can be done by yourself, as we will show you in this article. On the other hand, if the leak persists or has larger proportions, be sure to look for a  plumber or other professional you trust. It can be the safest alternative to a huge variety of situations. In the meantime, check out what you can do!

1. Faucet leakage

Tap faucets are among the most common hydraulic problems. However, they are very easy to solve and you can even repair them yourself. First of all, close the general register to stop the water supply. Then remove the handle (the part we turn) from the tap by loosening the small screw on top or behind the part. The screw is visible after the cover is removed. With the proper tool, remove the packing nut and twist the stem in the same direction as opening the tap. Then remove the bolt that secures the seal and, after examining the bolt and stem, replace the bolt that is damaged. Then replace the old seal with a new one and fit the sealing washer on the stem. Reinstall everything on the tap and turn the rod clockwise. Finally, replace the knob and screw cap.

2. Siphon Leakage

Another common leak happens in the siphon under the sink. First, close the general registry. Then check that the siphon fittings on the valve in the sink or in the outlet pipe are well threaded, because if there is leakage in this place, it is because the water is passing in the space between the threads. In this case, remove the siphon and use enough Veda Screw tape to the male threaded part, completely covering the surface of the siphon. Then thread the siphon back, squeezing it fully without damaging it. If there is a crack or small hole in the siphon, use silicone adhesive. If large, replace siphon.

3. Leakage in the mass of the plumbing

Another possibility of leakage is in the mass of the plumbing between the filter basin and the sink. If there is a leak under the sink, this dough may be worn, although it will not dry out or break. First of all, buy new mass in building material stores. Then remove the nut securing the filter bowl, which is under the sink. Remove any remaining old grease between the filter bowl and the sink. Apply a piece of new dough around the opening of the sink base and replace the nut in the filter bowl, removing any excess dough. With the tap open, check if the leak continues.
