Our latest interior inspiration comes to us in the form of a house renovation by online architecture firm Resi. Their complete services take customers through all aspects of completing a project from design and gaining planning permission to connecting with local suppliers.

Let’s take a look at the brilliant work they’ve done renovating this interior in Forest Hill.

Living room

A common problem that people run into when putting together a living room is furniture placement. It’s very easy to throw chairs or sofas against the flat walls and then let the rest of the room form itself without much thought.

Here though, the gorgeous yellow chair sits snugly in the bay window and acts as a brilliant focal point for the room while everything fits perfectly with every little corner of space being used efficiently. The TV and stand fit exactly into the recessed wall cove while the coffee table is large and stylish enough without being obtrusive, all of which hasn’t happened by accident.

Other side of living room

With a redesigned open living room space the other side of the living room space has been designed to appear part of the home while having its own identity.

The wall colour provides a more intimate and private feel and the choice of darker furniture reflects that.

Tying things together

The gorgeous wood panel flooring ties these areas of the house together while the chandelier lighting helps keep that sense of consistency.

Big space in the kitchen/dining area

As part of opening up the ground floor space, the kitchen, dining and a living space have all been combined. The large glass windows at the rear also let in a huge amount of light to make this space feel enormous.

A lot of care has gone into the details of this property and you can tell when looking at the matching dining table and kitchen island counter and from the gorgeous concrete tiled flooring. Using tiles is also a brilliant technique to avoid concrete pouring costs as well providing easier access to underfloor piping.

Similarly, the 'Crittall-style' doors at rear of the property are made from aluminium instead of the trademarked steel, producing the same great effect for less.

Moving on up

Upstairs, the main bedroom is decorated in a brilliant pastel grey and there’s no lack of light here either. Minimalism is definitely key here and it means that the items that the furniture and furnishings have been chosen very carefully, using only the highest quality items. Where this house is concerned, less is definitely more.

The overarching theme of connectivity continues up here in the bedroom with an en-suite bathroom accessible through a walk-in wardrobe.

As part of the renovation new floor plans were created for each level of the home. The bedrooms and main bathroom were moved from the ground floor to the higher levels, creating a separation between the entertainment spaces downstairs and the sleeping areas above.

With a newly landscaped garden complete with picnic and BBQ area, this home is ready for visitors all year round.
